If you need support with your sexual or reproductive health, you can visit a sexual health clinic.
Looking after your sexual health is an important part of your overall wellbeing. Whether you need contraception, a check for sexually transmitted infections (STIs), pregnancy support, or general advice, there are a variety of confidential services available to assist.


What services are available?
Sexual health clinics can help you with:
- Contraceptives, including: condoms, contraceptive pills, implants, intrauterine devices (IUDs), and emergency contraceptives like the “morning-after pill”
- Sexually transmitted infection (STI) testing and treatments
- Pregnancy testing and connection to midwifery and other pregnancy-related support
- Abortion care
- Cervical screening
- Trusted advice and support with sexual wellbeing, identity and relationships
Where to go for support
There are several clinics that provide sexual health services in Canterbury, operated by Health NZ and Sexual Wellbeing Aotearoa (formerly Family Planning). You can book sexual health services directly with each clinic.
You don’t need a referral for most services at a sexual health clinic, but you can ask for one from your GP.

Sexual Wellbeing Aotearoa operates three clinics in Canterbury:
- Christchurch City – 9 Washington Way, Central Christchurch
